Tzanata is located 36 km from Argostoli. The "twin" artificial Lakes of Tzanata were created for the water supply needs of the surrounding villages. They create a landscape of significant aesthetic value and several species of birds have been recorded for a stop in their passage such as herons, ducks, etc. An archeological find of great importance has also been found outside the village. A Mycenaean Tomb of Tzanata with a dome of about four meters which dates between 1350 and 1100 BC.
